Vector Effect Walkthrough

Vector Effect is an entertaining arcade shooting game that will keep you playing game after game. It's surprisingly addictive for a game that's so simple. The premise is fairly common as far as arcade shooting games go. You are in control of a ship that is under attack and you need to destroy your attackers before your attackers destroy you. The controls are easy to understand and easy to use. The graphics are basic but not boring. Everything about this game is great. Beginners will love how easy it is to pick up how the game is played while more experienced arcade shooting game players will love the challenge the game presents. It isn't easy by any account, but it is a lot of fun.

The basic controls of Vector Effect are easy enough anyone will be able to get the hang of them regardless of skill or experience level. Newcomers to the arcade shooting game genre will be able to use the controls fairly easily even though the game uses both mouse and keyboard controls. The fact that you can use either the standard 'wasd' or arrow key controls allows any player to be able to choose the method of navigation that is most comfortable and familiar for them. More experienced players will be familiar with games that use both keyboard and mouse controls so they won't have any trouble at all playing this one.

In Vector Effect, there are several upgrades you can purchase that will strengthen your ships defense and attack. Instead of using the points you earn during the game to buy upgrades, you will instead be using skill points. You are rewarded with one skill point each time you level up. It can take a while to collect skill points, but they're worth it. The upgrades are incredibly beneficial and can really help your game last much longer. There are four different categories of upgrades with each category offering two different upgrades. Gun enhancement upgrades increase the effectiveness of your gun. You can purchase a spread shot which allows you to deliver damage to multiple enemies at once or rapid fire which increases how fast your gun can be fired. Armor plating upgrades increase the strength of your ship. You can purchase auto repair which allows you ship's health to regenerate on its own as well as a max health boost which increases the maximum health of your ship. Bullet mod upgrades are also useful as they increase the chance the bullets you fire will do more damage to enemies than they normally would. You can purchase sharpened tip bullets which give you an increased chance of penetrating your enemy with a bullet that can then travel further and damage a second enemy or you can purchase impact charges which increases the chance your bullet will explode when it hits an enemy, delivering damage to any enemies around it. Finally, you have pilot skill upgrades. You can increase how fast you collect experience points by purchasing the fast learning upgrade. Collecting experience faster helps you level up faster which in turn helps you collect skill points faster. More skill points means more upgrades. The Charisma upgrade allows you to get more points per kill which helps you get a much higher score.

Vector Effect offers two modes of play you can choose from, depending on what kind of gaming experience you're looking for. Arcade Mode is the basic game play mode you would get with most of the other arcade shooting games online. Enemies attack you continuously and your goal is simply to survive as long as you can and to score as many points as you can. There is no end. In Arcade Mode, there is no beating the game. The fun of Arcade Mode is all about getting a high score before you run out of lives. Once you've run out of lives, you can upload your score and see how you rate among players from around the world or you can just choose to play again and try to beat your own high score. That's what really makes the game so much fun.

In Sandbox Mode, you are the master of the game. There are no goals to reach and you decide what enemies you want to face off against. You also make the level as hard as you want to make it by choosing when you want to level up. Leveling up automatically increases the difficulty level so only choose to do so when you want more of a challenge. You also have an unlimited supply of lives, bombs and skill points so you don't have to worry about dying or running out of bombs. This is a great option for someone who is having trouble progressing in Arcade Mode or who is a newcomers to arcade shooting games as it allows you the chance to get more familiar with the different enemies you will be facing. In addition, since you have unlimited skill points, you can purchase various upgrades and see what they do. This gives you the chance to see what upgrades offer the most benefits.

Overall, Vector Effect is one of the most addictive arcade shooting games online that anyone can enjoy regardless of skill or experience level. If you want to get a good score, try playing in Sandbox Mode for a while to get a feel for how the game is played and to familiarize yourself with the different enemies you will face off against. Don't take it easy on yourself though. Once you switch to Arcade Mode and progress in the game, you're going to find things get much more difficult as enemies get tougher and attack in greater numbers. Prepare yourself in Sandbox Mode where you have a little control. Once you're in Arcade Mode and things are getting harder, try to stay in open spaces on the game screen as often as you can. Getting hit by enemies will rob your of health points. When your health reaches zero your game is over. It's much easier to avoid getting hit by enemies if you try to stay in an open spot. You're also given bombs to use but you have only a limited number. Use them sparingly. If you run out of bombs you won't get another one until you reach 300,000 points, so try to avoid using the bombs you have until it's absolutely necessary.
