Operation:Onslaught Walkthrough

Operation:Onslaught is a fast paced, intense overhead shooting game that will keep you entertained from the start of the first mission to the very end of the last - if you can make it that far. Your goal is to take out all the enemies in each mission and survive to fight another day. There are thirteen action packed missions in total, each one a little more difficult than the one before it. Beginners will likely find the game challenging but won't get so frustrated they don't want to continue playing while more experienced players are going to find the first few missions a bit too easy, finding the difficulty level they're looking for later in the game. The controls are fairly basic combining the use of the mouse and the keyboard but not in a way that's too difficult for beginners to get the hang of. The graphics are fun and will keep you entertained without distracting you from the game play. This is truly a game that anyone, regardless of skill or experience level, will be able to enjoy.

The game screen in Operation:Onslaught is fairly easy to understand even for those who aren't familiar with overhead shooting games. Basically, all of the weapons you have in your arsenal are shown at the top of the screen. Your guns are shown on the left while your grenades are shown to the right. At the bottom right side of the screen you'll see the grenade and gun you currently have equipped as well as how much ammo you have in the gun and how many grenades you have of that type. When you switch your gun or grenade the information at the bottom right will change as well. It's important to keep an eye on the quantities indicated here. If you're facing a tough battle look to see how much ammo you have in your weapon. While it may be a strong weapon it will be of little use if you are about to run out of ammo. Choose a weapon that is powerful enough to take out the opponents but has enough ammo to carry you through the battle. As you fight in a battle, you are likely going to find yourself wounded. When you get injured, blood will begin to appear from the bottom of the screen. If the blood fills the screen, your game is over.

The great thing about Operation:Onslaught is the extras thrown in to make the game better than the average overhead shooting game. To begin with, you will be facing off against more than thirty different kinds of monsters which allows this game to avoid the most common problem in shooting games - monotony. You aren't shooting at the same type of monster over and over again which keeps the game fresh and interesting. The monsters all vary in strength and speed which means the game is constantly giving you a new obstacle to tackle instead of just something new to look at. Experienced players will especially find this appealing as it's something many games of this type lack. In addition to the different types of monsters there are also five bosses you'll have to defeat over the course of the game ensuring you stay on your toes. Bosses are hard to take out so try to get behind them and attack them that way. It isn't always easy to do but in some cases, that is the only way to get passed the boss.

There are nine weapons in Operation:Onslaught that you will be able to collect as you play. Unlike many other overhead shooting games you don't buy the new weapons in the upgrade shop. Instead, you'll find the new weapons as you play each mission. Each weapon offers benefits for a different type of combat and, once collected, will be accessible via keyboard shortcuts. This makes your weapons much easier to access when they're needed. It won't take long to figure out what type of weapon works best in a given situation, so keep an eye on the attacking enemies and determine which weapon will be most effective. Pay attention to what weapon is in what slot as well as what types of grenades you have. This will allow you to quickly choose the most effective weapon for every situation and take out enemies much more efficiently.

Upgrades are incredibly important in Operation:Onslaught so make sure you take advantage of them. You can purchase upgrades through the upgrade menu at any time throughout the game using the credits you earn as you play the game. Upgrades are absolutely vital if you want to make it through the game. Choose your upgrades wisely focusing on options that enhance areas of your game play that you are weak in. For example, if you have a hard time evading enemies, focus on armor and force field upgrades. They'll offer you the most benefit. Once you have your armor and force field upgrades, focus on ammo and weapon upgrades. While ammo upgrades are important, you'll always have your basic weapon to fall back on should you run out of ammo for your more advanced weapons.

Overall, Operation:Onslaught is a terrific game any fan of overhead shooting games needs to try at least once. In addition to excellent weapons, entertaining graphics and beneficial upgrades there are also four mini games you can unlock that are every bit as entertaining as the main game. Beginners will struggle a bit with this game but with time and patience even newcomers to the overhead shooting game genre will be able to improve. More experienced players are likely going to find the game a bit easy in the start but later missions will provide them with the challenge they are looking for.
