Balloon in a Wasteland Walkthrough
With Balloon in a Wasteland, the name of the game really says it all. Your balloon has crashed in a wasteland and you need to try to escape by battling all manner of awful creatures with all of the weapons you have at your disposal. You can build turrets and upgrade your fort, but no matter what you do, getting out alive isn't going to be easy. This game takes a little getting used to, simply because although the controls are familiar, there are some keyboard shortcuts many experienced action shooting game players are used to using that aren't available here. For example, there are no keyboard shortcuts to change weapons or place traps when you have them available so you'll need to select the gun menu (in the middle of the left side of the screen) and manually choose a new gun if you want one or choose the trap menu (also on the left side of the screen) if you want to place a trap. Aside from that, the controls are fairly standard and not all that difficult to get used to. There is no set number of levels in this game. Instead, you beat the game when you've completely repaired your balloon. That isn't an easy goal to accomplish though.
Balloon in a Wasteland is one of the most engrossing and addictive action shooting games online simply because it is so difficult. It starts off rather simply with a few small enemies that are fairly easy to take out but it gets much harder as bigger, tougher and winged enemies attack. You'll be given the opportunity to purchase a different type of upgrade at the conclusion of each wave thanks to a helpful shop truck that stops by, but whether or not you should choose to purchase and of the shop keeper's wares will depend on what you've already built, how much money you've earned and what you need to get through the next wave of enemies. Don't purchase more than you need. Because this game doesn't offer a typical upgrade store, you need to ration your money for important upgrades. Having a good gun is important, but your basic gun will be enough to get you through the first few waves, so don't waste money on a new gun the first time the gun truck comes around. You're going to need a fort, a bandage station and traps to get through the later levels in the game. Make sure you have money to purchase those things when you need them. Don't purchase a new gun until at least the second time the gun truck comes around although purchasing the available upgrades for the weapon you start the game with isn't a bad idea.
The best way to make sure you get to repair your balloon and complete the Balloon in a Wasteland is to take time between waves to repair your balloon. Your repair your balloon the same way you replenish your health at the bandage station or build and upgrade your fort; move in front of it and hit the down arrow key. Although things can be fairly hectic in the game, especially in later levels, take out the enemies attacking in a wave as fast as you possibly can and use the remaining time to repair your balloon. If you're low on health and stamina, split the time between waves into three parts; replenishing your health at the bandage station, repairing your balloon and then sleeping. While sleeping seems important, you can make it further with little sleep than you can with little health and plenty of both won't get you anywhere if you don't take time to repair your balloon.
Turrets are an important part of Balloon in a Wasteland so try not to let the turret truck pass by without making a purchase. Turrets are vital for taking on flying enemies and thining out the herd when a large number of enemies are attacking. If you want to have time to repair your balloon between waves, you're almost certainly going to need to build a turret. To build a turret, you'll first need a fort, so make sure you don't skip buying one when the fort truck rolls around. While the fort itself might not offer much help in the grand scheme of things, the ability to add a turret to it is worth the money you'll spend on a fort. Buy a turret as early in the game as you can. This is the one thing in the game that's really worth splurging on. Even if you're still able to take all of the enemies out with your weapon alone, a turret will help you get the job done faster allowing you more time to repair your balloon. The next time the turret truck rolls around, upgrade the turret you have on your fort. Buying the more advanced turrets will require you to upgrade your fort and while that's important, you won't have time to upgrade or repair your fort if you don't have a decent turret. The upgrades for even the basic turret are excellent and will help you get much further in the game.
Traps are also of vital importance in Balloon in a Wasteland. Traps will help slow your enemies down making it easier to take them out and some will deliver damage points to your enemies. The more expensive ones will destroy any enemy that hits it, but you have to remember, those traps are only single use traps. Make sure you have other traps in place to back them up. Although traps are important, you can generally wait until the second time the truck rolls around to purchase them and even then, the basic traps should be enough to give you the help you need. In later waves, though, you'll need to make sure you have the more advanced traps in place if you want to survive so its important to make sure you don't miss the chance to buy some when the trap truck stops by.
Overall, Balloon in a Wasteland is an excellent and addictive action shooting game that will keep you playing wave after wave out of sheer stubborness. This is a game you want to beat just so you can say you actually did it. Newcomers to action shooting games shouldn't have too much trouble picking up how the game is played which is one of the the reasons this game is so much more appealing to beginners than many of the other action shooting games online. You don't have to be an expert shot to do well in this game. You just have to be able to think, plan a good strategy and put that strategy into action. Experienced players are going to love the challenge the game presents and the fact that it's so different than most of the other action shooting games online. This is an incredible game any fan of action shooting games or strategy shooting games needs to play at least once. Just don't be surprised if you can't stop after the first game.
